Although losing weight involves watching calories, losing weight too quickly is never safe. What you need to do, is aim for losing no more than 1 - 2 pounds a week. Be certain you are getting enough calories to keep your body operating smoothly. If you start dropping weight too fast, eat a bit more food.

Potato Tidbit

Many people find their potassium levels to be on the high side. If you like potatoes as much as I do, this can bum you out.

My wife has that problem due to all her physical problems and after much research, I found a trick to lowering the potassium level in potatoes.

Simply cut the potatoes at least a couple hours before you plan to make them and allow them to sit in water. Before you cook them, strain them and run water over them, clean out the pan, and then cook them. It works.

My grandson and I have been catching some really big carp. Too bad it tastes too bad to eat. It's just catch and release. We do fry up any bass we catch that are big enough. I dip it in a mixture of milk and an egg and fry it up, sprinkling salt and pepper on it. Delicious!

There is so much talk about not eating carbs and that's something I never agreed with. You need carbs in a balanced diet. I think this article will help enlighten you.

Switching to a healthy diet doesn't necessarily mean drastic changes to what you eat. There are many, and I include myself in this group, who eat decently and just need to make an effort to add more fruit and vegetables to their diet.

Add some vegetables to your meals and try to eat a snack consisting of fruit a couple times a day.

Here's a tip that can add a really good flavor to some of your simple recipes. Depending on what you are making, sometimes considering adding a broth in place of water.

I've found this sometimes makes a huge difference in the final taste. I always keep cans of different flavors of broth on hand for my cooking. It's cheap and it does the trick.

For instance, 1/2 cup evaporated fat free milk can be substituted for 1/2 cup of heavy cream. This is certainly an additional calorie saver healthy substitution that saves your family from consuming so many unhealthy calories yet still enables you to prepare the foods they enjoy.

Get Your Kids to Eat Healthy While They are Kids

<img src="http://www.recipestreet.com/images/berrybowl.jpg" width="175" height="157" alt="healthy recipes" align=left hspace=10>

Healthy eating routines are critical for permanent success of nutritious eating.

A healthy diet plan can be introduced to a child at any age. Research demonstrate that youngsters who have healthy and balanced eating habits at a young age will continue to have a much healthier body weight while they grow older

Most healthy eating plans permit a couple of modest snack food items each day. Selecting largely vegetables and fruit will let you consume a snack with only 100 calories

Instilling nutritious ways of eating at an early age helps set your son or daughter up for success over time. .

I want to stress that pursuing a healthy eating plan doesn't imply that you can't indulge from time to time. If what you try to eat is normally lower in fat (particularly saturated and trans fat) and sugars and you're receiving sufficient minerals and vitamins, you could possibly enjoy a rich dessert or helping of fried foods once in a while.

If, on the flip side, you consume a lot of high- calorie foods, it's likely you'll get all of the calories you'll need quickly without getting adequate vital nutrients.

Check out some <a href="http://www.recipestreet.com/healthy-recipes.html">Healthy Recipes</a> here.
