Crock Pot Recipes

crock pot recipes Crock pot recipes can make your life so simple. You put your ingredients in the crock pot before you head to work or anytime, and when you come home you have a hot meal all ready to eat.

I use the crock pot, also called a slow cooker, all the time. You can pick up a cheap roast and, after slowly cooking all day, that roast will fall apart. Chili comes out so delicious and even barbecue ribs or chicken wings are unbelievably tasty.

Just a couple pointers when using crock pot recipes. Personally I do not put the potatoes in if the recipe calls for them. I peel the potatoes and allow them to sit in cold water all day, then come home and drain them and add new water and cook them. I then add them to the crock pot when they are finished and allow them to sit for about 10 or 15 minutes to absorb the juices. This keeps you from serving mushy potatoes.

I also like to brown some of my meats first, like roast. Not entirely necessary as the meat does brown in the slow cooker, but I think it helps lock in the juices. Obviously I don't do this with chicken or ribs or such.

I'm going to begin adding a lot of delicious crock pot recipes and hope you will add some of yours as well.

Here is a delicious slow cooker recipe to whet your appetite with plenty more to come.

Chicken 'n Dumplings Recipe

4 boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut in small chunks
2 cans condensed cream of chicken soup
1/4 cup onion, finely diced
2 cups water
2 10 oz packages refrigerated biscuits
1 chicken bouillon cube

Combine all ingredients, except biscuits, in slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 5 to 6 hours.

30 minutes before serving, tear biscuit dough into 1-inch pieces. Add to your slow cooker; stirring gently.

Cover and cook on HIGH for an additional 30 minutes or until biscuits are fluffed up and cooked through.
