Crock Pot Recipes
Seriously. To me cooking in a crock pot blows away most other forms of cooking other than maybe barbecue. I am now retired and still use the slow cooker. And why not. Crock pot recipes can make your life so simple. You put your ingredients in the crock pot before you head to work or anytime, and when you come home you have a hot meal all ready to eat. I pick up a cheap roast and, after slowly cooking all day, that roast will fall apart when you take it out. Chili comes out so delicious and even barbecue ribs or chicken wings are unbelievably tasty. Just a couple pointers when using crock pot recipes. Personally I do not put the potatoes in the slow cooker if the recipe calls for them. I'll cook them seperately until they are just about done and then put them in and allow them to absorb the juices for an hour, if I have time. If you don't have time, 10 or 15 minutes works. Here is a delicious slow cooker recipe to whet your appetite with plenty more to come. Chicken 'n Dumplings Recipe4 boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut in small chunks 2 cans condensed cream of chicken soup 1/4 cup onion, finely diced 2 cups water 2 10 oz packages refrigerated biscuits 1 chicken bouillon cubeCombine all ingredients, except biscuits, in slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 5 to 6 hours. 30 minutes before serving, tear biscuit dough into 1-inch pieces. Add to your slow cooker; stirring gently. Cover and cook on HIGH for an additional 30 minutes or until biscuits are fluffed up and cooked through. When doing a roast I like to season it and cook it all day. Besides adding water I also add a 16 oz can of tomato sauce. Try it. Makes the gravy taste jump out at you. I'll mix in about 5 tablespoons of flour and/or corn starch as well before dropping in the meat. This thickens up the juices and many times you don't need to add any flour or corn starch to make the gravy when the meal is complete. I do put frozen meat in many times when it is going to slow cook for the day. If you're like me you are always forgetting to defrost your meat. I mean why wait for another day?
